The City of Fremont is pleased to announce a summer course for local high school students on energy and sustainability. The course, titled “Electric Power and Its Impact on the Environment and Economy,” will be held on Fridays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. from July 6 through August 24 at the City of Fremont Development Services Center, and it will be taught by City of Fremont Environmental Sustainability Commissioner Shiva Swaminathan, P.E., CPA.

Aligning with STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) principles, the course will provide students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in electrical engineering while at the same time exploring the environmental and economic impacts of electricity production and consumption.  Students from all public and private high schools who reside in Fremont are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Priority will be given to incoming high school juniors and seniors who have previously completed coursework in Geometry, Algebra 2, AP Physics 1 (with electricity), and AP Chemistry.
